Tuition Reduction
For privately-financed international students, the first year's tuition fees will be reduced by 50%. From the second year on, GPA must be kept at or above 2.0 in order to receive the tuition reduction. (Tuition fee ¥720,000→¥360,000)
When applying to the university, students who have passed the JLPT Level 1(N1) will recieve an 80% tuition reduction for the first year. From the second year on, GPA must be kept at or above 2.7 in order to receive the tuition reduction. (You only pay ¥144,000).
Smart use of Financial Aid 1: Grants and Loans
There are two types of scholarships offered at Okinawa University: grants and loans. Receivers of grants are not required to make repayment. Payments for loans start after graduation. If you are looking for financial assistance, the grants offer great advantages. Be sure to check the two types of loans that are also offered, those with and without interest

There are 16 different types of Okinawa University’s own scholarships offered for our students, and 15 of these scholarships are grants. You can also widen the assistance by applying for scholarships that are offered outside of the University, and combining the scholarships. There are 287 recipients of Okinawa University scholarships, and 755 recipients of other scholarships, adding to 1042 students that receive scholarships in total. One in two students at Okinawa University are recipients of scholarships of some type, showing the accessibility of the scholarships, and the high number of students enrolled with outstanding academic achievements.

As the chart below shows, tuition takes up most of the cost in school expenses. What if you could receive a grant to cover all or half of the cost of tuition? That would certainly be of great help, wouldn’t it? Academic expenses at Okinawa University are lower than national and public universities, which range from ¥520,000~¥540,000 on average.
